Restoring factory settings

Restoring factory settings deletes the server's current data and restores its initial configuration.

Two methods are available:

  • mH-Developer: RESET button and display menu;
  • local web panel: the factory reset option, available from software version 3.0.31.

Both methods perform the same data deletion operation.

Effects of the operation

Restoring factory settings deletes:

  • the automation project and its configuration;
  • user accounts, their passwords, and permissions;
  • network settings;
  • cloud access configuration;
  • other user data stored on the server.

Once the operation finishes, the server restarts and uses automatic DHCP network configuration. Its previous IP address may no longer be valid.

The installed software version is preserved.

If you want to be able to restore the configuration, create a backup before starting and save it outside the server.

Do not disconnect power while factory settings are being restored.

mH-Developer: RESET and display

This method requires physical access to the RESET button, display, and menu buttons on the mH-Developer server. You do not need to know the Admin password.

  1. Switch off power to the server.
  2. Press and hold RESET.
  3. While holding RESET, switch on the power.
  4. Wait for the display menu to start. While still holding RESET, use the up/down buttons to find the following item:

    Ustawienia
    fabryczne (10) ?

  5. Release RESET.

  6. Press the OK confirmation button repeatedly, watching the counter on the display decrease. 10 confirmations are required.
  7. The final confirmation starts restoring factory settings. The display shows:

    Czyszczenie
    ustawien...

  8. Wait for the operation to finish and for the server to restart automatically.

Before the final confirmation, you can cancel by pressing the ESC exit button. The factory reset option is then removed from the menu. To make it available again, start the server with RESET pressed.

If an error message appears on the display, do not treat the operation as successfully completed.

Local web panel

This method is available from software version 3.0.31. It requires a connection to the server over the local network and the current Admin account login and password.

  1. Open the server's local web panel and sign in as Admin.
  2. Go to "Settings".
  3. In the "Factory settings" section, select "Restore factory settings".
  4. Check the displayed server name and address to make sure the operation applies to the correct device.
  5. Enter the current Admin account login and password again.
  6. In the confirmation field, enter the exact phrase shown in the form. In the English version of the panel, this is DELETE DATA.
  7. Click "Delete data and restore factory settings".
  8. Once the request has been confirmed as accepted, wait for the operation to finish and for the server to restart automatically.

You must enter the Admin credentials again even if you already have an active administrator session.

Once the request is accepted, the operation cannot be cancelled. Closing the page or disconnecting will not stop the factory reset.

Missing confirmation or a rejected request

If the panel does not confirm whether the request was accepted or rejected, the operation may already have started. Do not send the request again. Wait and check whether the server is available.

If the panel explicitly rejects the request, follow the displayed message. In particular, check the current Admin credentials and make sure you are using a direct connection over the local network.

Reconnecting after restoring settings

  1. Wait for the server to restart.
  2. Check that the server is connected to a network with working DHCP.
  3. Find its IP address in the router's device list.
  4. Open the local web panel at that address.

First sign-in

The following first sign-in procedure applies to software version 3.0.31 and later.

  1. Enter Admin in the Login field.
  2. In the Password field, enter any string of at least four characters, such as reset, and click "Sign in". This value is used only to open the password creation form.
  3. In the "Create the first Admin password" form, set a new password, confirm it, and click "Save and sign in".

The new password must meet the requirements shown in the form. A detailed description of the requirements is available in the Admin account access recovery instructions.

After signing in, you can configure the server again or restore its configuration from a backup. Cloud access requires restoring or configuring the relevant associations again.
